Happy Holidays

I've had a beautiful, musical year so far, and look forward to more exciting things this coming one.

Portrait of Granna

I've just been reading Empedocles on Etna by Matthew Arnold.

No eye could be too sound
To observe a world so vast
No patience too profound
To sort what’s here amass’d;
How man may here best live no care too great to explore.

The drawing is a close-up of a brush and ink portrait of Granna. I lOvE working with Indian Ink and Brush. I just bought ten sheets of a very excellent recycled paper - it has such a bee-yoo-ti-ful surface it seems almost a sacrilege to work on it - but it really holds the ink well.

Storyboard - Living in Disharmony

The first storyboard for 'Living in Disharmony'. This is the rough version, of course. I still have to ink in the details.

We've been polishing the Maysun In C website a little more. We've sprouted more leaves, added two sub pages and there are now two butterflies on the front page. The blue one leads to this blog and the pink will lead to the shop when we set that up. We're still working on it.

I've also been making a list of what I would like to have on this blog. I want to keep a track of our work and what we do next, of course, and use this space as a creative, learning outlet as well.

Which means I'll be -
  • Posting a drawing/artwork regularly, preferably something experimental that I haven't tried before. This is a goad for me to experiment and not just go with what comes easy.

  • Researching and writing on art periods/art genres/art techniques/art makers. 'Art' can be Painting or Illustration or Printing or Photography or Sculpture or Music or Animation or Film Making. And so on. It's not boxed-in.

  • Making a note of whatever I find inspiring. And there's a lot out there. :-)

And there is still much to be done. :-)

The end - or the beginning - is in sight.

We've completed about 80 % of the website so far. There are still a few features and artwork to be added.

We're in the middle of a major home improvement project - the house practically went down and then up again around us. It was very interesting, but work on the website had to take a back-seat for a while.

Last year, my sister and I decided we'd work together and we've finally teamed up. We're still polishing up our website, which is coming along exactly as we want. We're rather pleased with it so far, and hope to have it up and running before October.
