Portrait of Granna
I've just been reading Empedocles on Etna by Matthew Arnold.
No eye could be too sound
To observe a world so vast
No patience too profound
To sort what’s here amass’d;
How man may here best live no care too great to explore.
The drawing is a close-up of a brush and ink portrait of Granna. I lOvE working with Indian Ink and Brush. I just bought ten sheets of a very excellent recycled paper - it has such a bee-yoo-ti-ful surface it seems almost a sacrilege to work on it - but it really holds the ink well.
