Art–New Landscape Paintings
So I’ve started work on four new landscape paintings (24 by 24 inches, oil on canvas), and I’m very pleased with myself so far. In fact, I like the orange and blue contrast so much (yes, it’s orange and blue) that I’m wondering if I shouldn’t leave these as they are.
Meijin, the canine critic, doesn’t care one way or the other. The only art he appreciates is of the culinary kind.

Illustration Friday–Exotic
Mind this, my dear sirs and ladies, exotic is a quality found in other people, other places. What we are, where we are, is too diffused with everyday ordinariness.

Photo of the Week–Owl Rescue
Early this morning, as Barkya and I came out for our walk, a gathering of noisy crows drew my attention to an owl dangling from one of the top branches of the neem tree. It was quite horribly entangled in a kite string and I thought it was dead, but then it moved its head and blinked. I asked one of the neighbors to call the fire brigade and they came immediately in their truck and got the bird down. Everyone was quite relieved that it was still alive. They said they would take it to the forest department office for treatment.
